CATALINA SHIRLEYWHY ANIMAS IS RIGHT FOR ME:I had a very hard time choosing between Animas and DHS. I was on the fence for a long time. I really enjoyed the experience I had shadowing at both schools, however Animas was just a better fit for me personally. Project-Based Learning fits my hands-on learning style better. I went to Mountain Middle School and loved my experience there, so it made sense for me to continue with Charter Schools. I think project-based learning is a much more dynamic approach to education in the 21st Century. Looking back, I don't regret my decision. Animas was definitely the right school for me. I am allowed so much choice and freedom, and the teachers try to accommodate to my personal needs as best as they can. I miss a lot of school for my climbing, but they are always willing to work with me and get me caught up. When I first shadowed here, I loved the relationships that the students and teachers shared. Instead of calling teachers by their last name, you call them by their first because they are your equals. At Animas, the teachers care about you as a person, and a student. They actually want you to succeed, and they are understanding, helpful, and supportive. At Animas, a student isn't just a number, they are a person.
